Formal tones tend to be so serious that people simply set them aside once they know the details. More quirky invitations tend to get a lot of compliments, especially from friends who are yet to be married. A wedding really is something to celebrate and the feel of the invitation should say so.
How exactly does an invitation become more vivid and exciting? The color palette chosen for the set of invites has a huge impact. Although it's still recommended to pattern it according to the colors of the wedding party, it's always good to use bold colors.
Rich jewel tones are the latest craze on the runway and the same goes for wedding invitations. There are a lot of luscious purples, shiny emeralds, warm oranges and electric blues. Gone are the days of being subtle with pastels as a color theme.
As a backdrop, whites are too monotonous and black may be too heavy. The new trend as a base for the crisp jewel tones is grey. It is the perfect background for the stationery to create balance with the rich tones. It is fresh and has a modern feel.
Most couples still go with simple motifs despite the lively color palette chosen. Simplicity and minimalism will never go out of style. Classic lace patterns are still used as an accent even for these stylish wedding invitations.
Having simple motifs, the stationery should have added embellishments such as embossed monograms. The main stationery should also have textures aside from the embossed detailing as it adds to the rich feel that most invitations want to convey. Having a monogram is still recommended but instead of the initial, it should include the full names.
Aside from the latest trends, a couple should always consider their own personality and taste. If there is a way to incorporate their love story in the wedding invitation then do so. Aside from the main invitation, save the date cards, RSVP cards, set cards and menu cards should all be patterned with the same theme. These can still have variations but should be coordinated.
Last but not least, it's always better to shop and decide with a set of intimate friends to make it a more meaningful and personal experience.
